lug.ie Community Code of Conduct
1. Our Community
lug.ie is an adult community for people who enjoy LEGO®, building, collecting, displaying and sharing their enthusiasm with others.
We want lug.ie to be a welcoming, friendly and respectful environment where adult members can participate, share their creations, exchange ideas and enjoy the hobby together.
By participating in lug.ie activities, events, online groups or other community channels, members are expected to follow this Code of Conduct.
2. Treat Others with Respect
Members should treat one another with courtesy and respect.
We do not accept:
* Bullying, harassment or intimidation.
* Threatening or abusive behaviour.
* Personal attacks, insults or deliberately hostile behaviour.
* Discrimination or hateful behaviour directed towards another person or group.
* Unwanted sexual or inappropriate behaviour.
* Deliberately humiliating, embarrassing or targeting another member.
* Repeated behaviour intended to make another member feel unwelcome or excluded.
Members may disagree with one another. Healthy debate and different opinions are welcome, but disagreements should remain respectful.
3. Keep Community Discussions Constructive
Our online groups and other community channels should be used in a way that contributes positively to the community.
Members should:
* Keep discussions reasonably relevant to the purpose of the group or channel.
* Avoid deliberately provoking arguments or disputes.
* Respect the views and contributions of other members.
* Follow the reasonable requests of the admin team and event organisers.
* Avoid repeatedly posting material that has been removed or rejected by admins.
Humour and friendly banter are part of many communities, including ours, but members should be mindful of how their comments may be received by others.
4. Appropriate Content
Members should use good judgement when sharing photographs, videos, links or other content.
Content should not include material that is:
* Abusive, threatening or hateful.
* Sexually explicit or otherwise inappropriate for the community.
* Intended to harass, embarrass or target another member.
* Illegal or encouraging illegal activity.
* Deliberately misleading or fraudulent.
* Unreasonably disruptive to the community.
Admins may remove content that they believe is inappropriate or unsuitable for a lug.ie community channel.
5. Respect Privacy
Members should respect the privacy of other community members.
Do not share another person’s:
* Personal contact information.
* Private messages or conversations.
* Photographs or other personal information.
without their permission, unless there is a legitimate reason to do so.
Members should also respect the wishes of others when taking or sharing photographs at lug.ie events.
6. Events and Exhibitions
Members participating in lug.ie events, exhibitions or other activities are expected to:
* Treat venue staff, organisers, exhibitors and visitors respectfully.
* Follow reasonable instructions from event organisers.
* Take reasonable care of their own and other members’ LEGO® creations and equipment.
* Respect venue rules and safety requirements.
* Behave appropriately towards members of the public attending events.
* Avoid behaviour that could put themselves or others at unnecessary risk.
The organiser of an event may ask a member to leave if their behaviour is inappropriate, disruptive or creates a safety concern.
7. Respect Other People’s Creations and Ideas
LEGO® is a creative hobby and members should respect the work of other builders.
Members should not deliberately claim another person’s creation as their own or present another person’s work without appropriate acknowledgement.
When sharing another member’s build, photograph or other creative work, members should give credit where reasonably possible and should respect any request from the creator not to have their work shared outside the original community channel.
8. Commercial Activity
lug.ie is primarily a community for sharing an interest in LEGO®.
Commercial activity, advertising or promotion should only take place where it is permitted by the relevant lug.ie community channel or event organiser.
Members should not use community channels to repeatedly promote businesses, products or services without permission.
9. Follow Admin and Moderator Requests
The lug.ie admin team is responsible for helping maintain a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment.
Members are expected to follow reasonable requests from admins relating to:
* Community rules.
* Moderation decisions.
* Event arrangements.
* Appropriate use of community channels.
* Safety and conduct.
Members who disagree with a moderation decision should raise the matter privately rather than turning it into a public dispute within the community.
10. Raising Concerns
If a member believes that this Code of Conduct has been breached, they are encouraged to report the concern privately rather than engaging in a public confrontation.
Concerns can be raised using the lug.ie Community Concerns & Reporting process.
Members do not need to decide whether a particular incident definitely constitutes a breach before reporting it. If something concerns you, you can raise it with the admin team.
Reports made honestly and in good faith will be treated seriously.
11. Breaches of the Code of Conduct
Where a potential breach is reported, lug.ie will review the matter in accordance with its Community Concerns & Reporting process.
Depending on the circumstances and seriousness of the behaviour, possible actions may include:
* Informal advice or discussion.
* A reminder of the community expectations.
* A formal warning.
* Removal of inappropriate content.
* Temporary restrictions on participation.
* Suspension from community activities or channels.
* Removal from the lug.ie community.
Serious matters may be escalated to an appropriate external organisation or authority where necessary.
Not every disagreement or complaint will constitute a breach of this Code of Conduct.
12. Good-Faith Participation
We recognise that mistakes happen and that members will sometimes disagree.
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is not to prevent legitimate discussion or differences of opinion. It is to ensure that disagreements are handled respectfully and that everyone can participate without being subjected to harassment, intimidation or inappropriate behaviour.
We ask all members to use common sense, show respect to others and help make lug.ie a positive community for LEGO® fans.
13. Our Commitment
lug.ie will seek to apply this Code of Conduct fairly and consistently.
The admin team will consider the circumstances of each situation and will aim to resolve concerns proportionately and respectfully.
The Code of Conduct may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the community, our activities or relevant requirements. Members will be informed of significant changes.
Thank you for helping make lug.ie a welcoming and enjoyable community for adult LEGO® fans.
