World Cup MOC Competition:
-
Leave a comment on this post with your LUG username by 23:59 on Friday the 11th November.
On Saturday a draw will take place using https://wheelofnames.com/ for each country in the tournament. As each country appears, it will be allocated to the next reply on the post. You can then create a MOC related to the country you get. It does not need to be soccer related. Submissions can be on this post or linked from this post. Closing date is the kick off of the first game, on Sunday 20th November.
Prizes of Lego sets will be given randomly for participation and for the best overall MOC. Prizes can be collected at our next LUG meetup
Best of luck

As there were 8 entries and 8 groups in the world cup, I put the groups into the wheel instead. You can pick a country from your group as inspiration for your MOC! The groups came out as follows:
Patrick - Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
David - Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands
Tom - Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
Lisa - Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea
John - Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan
Sean - Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales
Kieran - Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia
Matt - Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
Best of luck!

A box of flags
-
All 4 group flags ,ok I'll put a lid on it!!
-
Nice lid! Well done John, got the ball rolling :P
-
Not enough gold so fools (yellow) next best option
-
Very quick John. I kinda feel embarrassed with the countries I got… France, Australia, Denmark have got so many recognisable symbols…but I am going to ensure Tunisia gets a visible part in it
-
Using white only and 6 cubed size and a limited smatter of bricks i ,I've made a Death Star football , did I get an imperial team?
-
I'm not going to kick it but it takes a little abuse ,marginally bigger than a golf ball, and despite edges has roll on momentum
-
Not rebel scum friendly
-
Due to this piece there is a a small trench that could lead to the centre
-
So this is my tribute to all the teams of Group D:
France; Australia; Denmark and Tunisia
Featuring (poorly) The Arc de Triumph; a version of the Eiffel Tower that makes you wonder how it took the Lego group 10,000 pieces to replicate; some french chefs cooking a BBQ with a kangaroo at the beach; and Denmark playing Tunisia with the flags in the background.
Titled: 'Every Team is Awesome'
Because i based it on the layout of 40516.

Great builds! Is that Lama on the barbie?
-
If they’re cooking llama, my ‘kangaroo’ has some real tough decisions to make about her disguise and her commitment this
-
Didn't you put that version of The Eiffel Tower into Ideas? The flags of some countries are so hard to replicate unlike colour bands , love the Roo too
-
Lol, didn't see your email in time John. I had a hard enough time finding parts to do the build I did end up doing! This is the problem with reorganising and continuous sorting.

OK, second try, site crashed when I tried to post a few minutes ago. I'll pop up this summary and then add pics after just in case I overloaded it last time. I had England, USA, Iran & Wales so loads of material to choose from right?? I opted not do a WC themed model and instead cos of the time of year that's in it went for something festive, namely a scene based on A Christmas Carol (England). It's Scrooge's counting house with Cratchit working away, Scrooge giving out about something, probably the carollers outside or the size of the fire that Crotchet has lighting. Santa is leading a provisions cart down the street and there's a few other bits and bob's going on.

Haha, just spotted that autocorrect changed Cratchit to Crotchet :)
-
This can stay for the upcoming season.love the snow hanging , the carol singers are a great WV addition. Hope they're not singing "it's coming home"
-
Great scene Sean. Not sure who'd win cat vs rat though
-
Well having got Group A I avoid the temptation to building something Qatar related.
So here's an Inca temple from the jungles of Ecuador. Had to Google to be sure the Incas were present there once so was glad they were. My little helper helped a lot especially with creating the jungle scene and loaning the explorers, animals and newer palm leaves.
I'll be cheering on Ecuador at 4 ..

Nice builds everyone. I wish I had got mine in earlier now, so the standards weren't dropping ;)
-
So mine was Group C: Mexico, Poland, Saudia Arabia and Argentina or Drug Cartels, Sausages, Oil and Steak as I interpreted it!!
-
High standard all round , love seeing flags as it reminds me of the panini stickers of the players-impossible to collect them ALL! David's structure is serious build with the leopard eyeing the monkey and the overhead shot!
-
Hi all - some very cool entries! Talking of dropping standards.. and i know this is a bit late and isn't anywhere near up to your standards but I showed the competition to my 10 year old son (he's a huge lego fan and constantly building) and he wanted to enter so I thought what the heck and entered for him... please forgive us!
Out of our group draw, he choose morocco and did a kind of sand dune scene out of what sand coloured bricks he had.. now you have to use your imagination a little but you can see a dude under an umbrella at the top of the dune, a well, and a few other slightly random things like the 2 guys eating fish. Then he googled and found jungle in morocco so did a bigger plate of that with some ruins and a tree (i'm not how many jungle ruins there really are in morocco :-) )
Anyway, we don't really have enough pieces to go all out but i said i'd post it anyway!
Matt.
-
Has a mine craft feel to it but better than Minecraft, great layering and scene building techniques
-
I wish I had got mine in earlier now...
I wish I had got a chance to do mine at all!
-
I'd bend the rules and get your submission in ,everyone should be represented

Well done on the build! Certainly the sand dune effect worked out well. Wasn't aware of jungles in Morocco, learn something new every day D
